Improving your Approaches to Teaching and Learning in the MYP
4.5 hours in total
TRAINING CONTENT:
Explicit Teaching:
- Steps to teaching ATL Skills in the MYP.
- Concrete examples of how to teach a skill based on classroom real-life experiences.
- Self-assessment process to identify students’ skill gaps.
Personal Project:
- How to prepare and support students to the new personal project with regards to the ATL changes?
- Ways to gather ATL evidence over the course of the process.
Delivered online over 1 full day
in French or English.
Ressources supplied with each course:
- Tools will be provided for each part of the training (eg: infographics, lesson plans, Student ATL Questionnaire, etc.).
Participant Numbers:
- A maximum of 20 educators per session.
Fees:
- $ US 200 per educator.

Each training will start at 10am EST (UTC-4) and finish at 3:30pm EST. You will be sent more details after registering. The first training in English in January is currently full, but we are considering adding a second date.

TEACHING WITH ATL SKILLS IN MIND
Face-to-face or Online live + pre-recorded workshop of 6 sessions – 12 hours in total.

WORKSHOP STRUCTURE:
Day 1
- TOPIC 1. Lessons from Covid – 1.5 hours
- TOPIC 2. Designing a Post-pandemic Core ATL Skills program – 2.5 hours
- TOPIC 3. Teaching Affective ATL Skills – 2 hours
Day 2
- TOPIC 4. Implementing Subject Specific ATL Skills – 3 hours
- TOPIC 5. Metacognitive ATL Skills Assessment – 1.5 hours
- TOPIC 6. POSBGIL: Process-Oriented, Skills-Based, Guided Inquiry Learning – 1.5 hours
Usually delivered over 2 full days in English:
6 hours per day – tuition + groupwork tasks.
Face-to-face workshops offered in Asia-Pacific countries.
Ressources supplied with each course:
- a 25 page workbook for the full course.
- links to all the ATL skills frameworks as Excel files for working on during the workshop.
- full free access for participants to the LALATAT platform of ATL skills exercises for MYP & DP for the duration of the course.
- links to download all the pre-recorded sessions after the course is completed.
Participant Numbers:
- all teachers in any one school can attend – minimum 15 up to maximum 100 teachers per course – depending on host school’s broadband capability.

- designing a post-pandemic ATL Skills Programme.
- choosing your school’s most important ATL Skills from the IB framework.
SECOND HALF-DAY
- Mapping your ATL Skills Programme.
- Planning your ATL Skills Implementation.
Usually delivered over 2 half-days or 1 full day
in French or English.
Face-to-face workshops offered in all the regions.
Ressources supplied with each course:
- full free access for participants to the LALATAT platform of ATL Skills exercises for the duration of the workshop.
- ATL Skills framework as Excel files for working on during the workshop.
Participant Numbers:
- a maximum of 75 educators from your school.

- TOPIC 3. Cognitive ATL Skills – Program Design and Implementation – 3 hours
Day 2
- TOPIC 4. Affective ATL Skills – Teaching Resilience, Courage and Failing Well – 3 hours
- TOPIC 5. Metacognitive ATL skills and Reflective Assessment – 2 hours
- TOPIC 6. Teaching ATL skills strategies in the classroom – 1 hour
Usually delivered over 2 full days in French or English:
6 hours per day – tuition + groupwork tasks
Face-to-face workshops offered in the Americas, Europe and Africa
Ressources supplied with each course:
- a workbook for the course.
